  • ‘The Program’ (The Program #1) by Suzanne Young

There are definitely similarities between Scott Westerfelds ‘Uglies’-series and Suzanne Young’s ‘The Program’. Both are sci fi, and where ‘Uglies’ is about perfecting our physical appearance, ‘The Program’ is about changing our moods and memories to “secure” teenagers mental health. Nonetheless ‘The Program’ felt original and was a really good read. It became super exciting after a little too slow and incredibly sad start. (mere…)

  • ‘HORRORSTÖR’ by Grady Hendrix

This Young Adult Horror novel didn’t disappoint. I’ve always loved ghost stories, and I’ve always dreamed of sleeping in and exploring a big, strange building together with friends. With ‘HORROSTÖR’ Grady Hendrix finally made that dream … no, NIGHTMARE come into reality! Go to IKEA before you read ‘HORRORSTÖR’, then read the novel, in or with your new creepy furniture. 😉 (mere…)

  • ‘No and Me’ by Delphine de Vigan

An incredibly poignant and beautiful story about two lonely girls mutual friendship. Not since ‘Zoo Station, The Story of Christiane F.’ have I been so emotionally involved, and even though the story is incredible sad, it wasn’t devastating, but actually life-affirming in a very beautiful way. (mere…)

  • ‘Bad Girls Don’t Die’ (Bad Girls Don’t Die #1) by Katie Alender

I’m sure you’re going to feel uneasy like Lexi in this story, when her 13 year old little sister Kasey starts to act pretty weird in their old house they’ve just moved into. Lexi hopes it’s just the basement, that is horrifying. She’s so wrong. ‘Bad Girls Don’t Die’ isn’t so scary, that you can’t go brush your teeth alone in the bathroom after reading, but it’s pretty damn creepy and really well build up. The series consists of completed stories, and even though this book is easy to read and perfect for young teens with English as their second language, the plot is great and not childish at all. • ‘Watchers’ by Dean Koontz

‘Watchers’ was my first favorite novel ever. I read it when I was 15 and thought it was absolutely lovely and horrifying and the same time. Now I felt it was time for a reread, because ‘Watchers’ isn’t just any mystery/horror/thriller-novel. It’s actually characterized as Dean Koontz best novel, by readers all over the world. (mere…)

  • ‘Wintergirls’ by Laurie Halse Anderson

‘Wintergirls’ is not just a really good and realistic novel about a young girls complicated relationship to her parents and vice versa. It’s also a kind of a crime/mystery, because Lia in the secret wants to find out how Cassie died. This combination made it both a pageturner and unforgettable.

  • ‘The Shining’ by Stephen King

‘The Shining’ isn’t scaring in the blood spattering way, it’s scary because you have this strong urge to dissociate from Jacks darkest and most insane feelings and thoughts, but King makes you realise, that you have them in you, yourself. WE ALL HAVE!

  • ‘Let It Snow’ by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle

‘Let It Snow’ with the subtitle ‘Three holiday romances’ is a novel from 2008, where three separate novellas mix into each other, storywise. The two first stories were so well written, deep, unpredictable, funny and thrilling, and the last one was a lot worse that just so-so. But overall, ‘Let It Snow’ still deserves four out of five stars. (mere…)

  • ‘Hexed’ (The Witch Hunter #1) af Michelle Krys

(mere…)

  • ‘Hexed’ (The Witch Hunter #1) by Michelle Krys

Even though the witch-and-sorcerer theme is so used in YA, Michelle Krys’ first book in the new ‘The Witch Hunter’ series, ‘Hexed’, did manage to conquer me completely. The story is wonderful unpredictable and loads of fun. (mere…)

  • ‘If I Stay’ (If I Stay #1) af Gayle Forman, boganmeldelse

‘If I stay’ griber om sig med storladne følelser og omfattende beslutninger, og den enkle måde tingene skildres er klog og henvender sig i høj grad til målgruppen. Skrivestilen fungerer overraskende godt med dens todeling; fra flash backs til episoder i Mias liv til et klokkeslæt der markerer, at man er tilbage i det kritiske hospitalsmiljø. (mere…)

  • ‘Uses for boys’ af Erica Lorraine Scheidt

Anbefalingen på forsiden af ‘Uses for boys’ er så præcis og så rigtig, at jeg blot vil citere den: “‘I wish every woman could gain wisdom found in these pages. Quiet. Stark. Possible life-changing.’ – Ellen Hopkins”. (mere…)

(mere…)

  • ‘The tragedy paper’ af Elizabeth Laban

(mere…)
