  • ‘Dark Room’ by Tom Becker

Due to the uninspiring cover and the toe-curling slogan ‘Are you ready for your close-up?’, I almost skipped this novel. The only reason I changed my mind was the overall positive reviews on Goodreads. Now, I’m really glad I gave it a chance, because ‘Dark Room’ isn’t horror at all, but über good YA mystery that doesn’t disappoint a bit. In fact the wonderfully creepy atmosphere and excitement that hung in the air at night in gloomy, southern Saffron Hills, was absolutely to die for! (mere…)

  • ’52 likes’ by Medeia Sharif

17 year old Valerie is raped and goes through hell. But other girls from Miami Gardens High have also been in trouble recently; one found murdered. Is the killer the same person who raped Valerie? Or is Valerie just a slut who asked for the rape herself, like some of the boys say? ’52 likes’ is both mystery and contemporary. In a really good way Valerie’s narrator voice remindeds me a lot of Hannah’s tape-voice in Jay Ashers ‘Thirteen reasons why’. I liked the contemporary part of the novel so much. The mystery solving, not so much. (mere…)

  • ‘Break my heart 1000 times’ by Daniel Waters

Did you like the movie ‘The sixth sense’ from 1999 because of the scary things that happened, when the world of the living and the world of the dead collided? And did you like Alice Sebold’s novel ‘The Lovely Bones’, because of the thrilling parts where you got to know the murderer, but still couldn’t prevent bad things to happen? Then there’s a really good chance that you’ll also like the story in ‘Break my heart 1000 times’ and the way it’s told. (Photo: Peter Henrichsen) (mere…)

  • ‘Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda’ by Becky Albertalli

“Don’t you think everyone should have to come out? Why is straight the default?”
‘Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda’ is one of the funniest and most heart touching stories I’ve read so far this year. I’m absolutely in love with this book and believe me, if I could force everyone in the world to read it, I would. (mere…)

  • ‘Invitation Only’ (Private #2) by Kate Brian

(Spoiler Alert! Second book in a series.) Reed is finally a Billings Girl and is ready to live the glamorous life – or so she thinks. Thomas is still missing, her new roommate is blackmailing her and apparently, everyone seems to be talking about this party called ‘The Legacy’ which Reed has no idea what is. ‘Invitation Only’ takes place a couple of days after ‘Private’ and it left me speechless. It is so much darker than ‘Private’ and the plot is so well put together, that I forgot I was reading the book and actually thought, that I was in the book. (mere…)

  • ‘Private’ (Private #1) by Kate Brian

15 year old Reed Brennan wins a scholarship to her dream school. When she starts at school she quickly realizes, that not everything is easy. But the she meets the perfect Billings Girls who can make anything easy, as long as you do as they say. While reading ‘Private’ I found myself unable to stop reading. Sometimes you find a book where everything about it is just amazing and you get that feeling, that this is the book. ‘Private’ was exactly that for me, because I was Reed Brennan. (mere…)

  • ‘The Perks of being a Wallflower’ by Stephen Chbosky

‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ is the story about the sensitive 15-year-old boy, Charlie, who starts in High School. As a reader I felt like I had a bigger role in this book because of the personal writing style and that is something I have never experienced before. But at the same time I cannot say that ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ has reached my list of favorite books. (mere…)

  • ‘Truly, Madly, Deadly’ by Hannah Jayne

I really enjoyed reading Hannah Jayne’s ’Truly, Madly, Deadly’. I had a hard time putting the book down, once I started reading it. I needed to know, what had really happened the night Sawyer’s boyfriend was killed. But even though it was a really great book, I still missed being dragged through the entire range of emotions. (mere…)

  • ‘Hexed’ (The Witch Hunter #1) by Michelle Krys

Even though the witch-and-sorcerer theme is so used in YA, Michelle Krys’ first book in the new ‘The Witch Hunter’ series, ‘Hexed’, did manage to conquer me completely. The story is wonderful unpredictable and loads of fun. (mere…)

  • ‘The tragedy paper’ af Elizabeth Laban

(mere…)

  • ‘Break my heart 1000 times’ af Daniel Waters

(mere…)
